Ashwaubenon officer seriously hurt in incident involving drunken driver

ASHWAUBENON - An Ashwaubenon Public Safety officer suffered life-threatening injuries overnight when he was struck by a driver suspected of being drunk.

The officer was on foot at a car fire along Interstate 41 about 11:25 p.m. Saturday when he was struck, public safety Chief Eric Dunning said in a news release.

Authorities were not identifying the officer or the driver, nor did they say what type of vehicle was involved in the incident.

The car fire occurred along I-41 south of Waube Lane.

Dunning said more information will be released at a press conference at 8:30 a.m. Monday.
