GREEN BAY - A Brown County Board committee showed little interest Thursday in a proposal to move the Neville Public Museum and the county's central library from downtown Green Bay to Ashwaubenon.

County supervisor Norb Dantinne asked the Education and Recreation Committee to advance to administrators his idea of demolishing the Brown County Veterans Memorial Arena across from Lambeau Field and near the Resch Center, and to create a new building to house the museum and library.

Noting ongoing studies about the future of both the Neville Museum and the aging arena, committee members agreed to place his memo on file and take no further action. Dantinne did not attend Thursday's committee meeting.

Before the vote, committee Chairman John Van Dyck said Dantinne told him he would suggest removing the library from his proposal, since it does not fit with the idea of the entertainment district in the Lombardi Avenue-Oneida Street area. Committee members also doubted the museum was a good fit for that area.
