A gate like this one, used to control traffic on the Don A. Tilleman Bridge, was stolen from a construction site on the west bank of the Fox River this weekend.

A 54-year old man has been arrested in the theft of a 1,300-pound traffic gate earlier this month from a construction site near the Fox River.

Green Bay police say a tipster led them to an Ashwaubenon residence, where they found the 22-foot-long gate, formerly used to control traffic on the Don A. Tilleman Bridge, which is just above the West Mason Street site where it was stolen. A large amount of lumber was also taken from the site.

The man was arrested and jailed on charges of theft and criminal damage to property. Most of the property was recovered and returned to the owner.
