Press-Gazette Media's 11th annual Preppie Awards honor the best of the high school sports season. Check back tomorrow for the girls and boys coach of the year awards, and check out Sunday's Press-Gazette for a story and complete awards list.

Boys athlete of the year

Alec Ingold, Bay Port: Ingold had one of the best senior years in recent memory. He signed a letter of intent to play football at the University of Wisconsin after being named the Fox River Classic Conference co-player of the year and leading Bay Port to a league title. He then won a WIAA Division 1 state title in wrestling while competing in the 220-pound weight class, and picked up baseball for the first time in years this spring and ended up being a second-team all-conference pick while helping lead the Pirates to state.

"This award just goes to show how hard work was able to pay off throughout the entire year," Ingold said. "I was able to put in a lot of work with a lot of great teammates looking to win as many games as we could together, and we had a very successful 2014-2015 sports year."

Green Bay Southwest’s Natisha Hiedeman blocks a shot attempt by De Pere’s Jami Palubicki (13) during a game last season.

Girls athlete of the year

Natisha Hiedeman, G.B. Southwest: Hiedeman, who signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Marquette University, was simply dominant in three sports. She earned a trip to the D1 state individual tennis tournament with doubles partner Kathryn Mason. In basketball, she became the metro's all-time leading girls scorer and was the FRCC player of the year and defensive player of the year. Then in track, she won her second straight D1 state title in the triple jump and was a state medalist in all three jumping events.
