GREEN BAY - Edison Middle School on the city’s east side was locked down for about an hour Monday afternoon because of a threatening phone call, the Green Bay School District announced.

The anonymous and automated phone call indicating a bomb would go off in the building was similar to threats made to schools all across the state and nation Monday, Lt. Jeff Brester, of the Green Bay Police Department said.

He said he expects federal officials to take over the investigation.

In a post on its Twitter page shortly before 1 p.m., the school district wrote the building had been secured. No one was allowed to leave or enter the school at 442 Alpine Drive.

The district posted an hour later that police had determined the threat was not credible. The message said students will be dismissed at the regular time.
