A 39-year-old Ashwaubenon man will spend three years in prison for providing the drug that killed his girlfriend.

David Smet must also spend five years on extended supervision, Brown County Judge Marc Hammer ordered recently.

Smet gave Fentanyl to Amber Kunstman, 29, who died in September 2013 from a mixture of drugs. Fentanyl, a pain killer, was determined to be a significant factor in her death, according to court records.

Kuntsman was found in an overflowing bathtub at her home on Mather Street.

Charges of resisting arrest and possession of marijuana were dismissed but considered at Smet’s sentencing.
